The water based ink is contained in a reservoir and feeds to the nib through a combination of gravity and capillary action. The fountain pens offered here will accept both a disposable ink cartridge and a screw piston reservoir. Nibs are available in a range of thicknesses and plating's, while inks are available for fountain pens in a wide variety of colors.

Many of the pen styles offered as fountain pens can be converted to roller ball pens and vice verse.
